Tapestry Q2 Review: The Ecosystem Is Social Now
New partnerships. More builders. And the first AI-native game built on Tapestry.
This quarter, social infrastructure on Solana stopped being a concept and became something you could actually use. From in-person events to API upgrades, we’ve been heads down shipping the connective tissue for crypto-native social.
Here’s what went down in Q2.
Ecosystem Activation: Making Social Fun Again
Between May and June, we brought Tapestry’s mission to life through a series of major IRL activations:
Farcaster × Tapestry × Solana event — featuring Dan Romero and friends, onstage discussing public social graphs and infra building.
Consumer Day — where consumer apps met social infrastructure in a room full of ideas.
Berlin Blockchain Week — with Jody repping Tapestry at Superteam Germany’s Builder’s Brunch.
Builder’s Mansion (France) — hosting a workshop on “How to Build Retention Into Your App by Default.”
Dreamnet Hackathon — in collaboration with Doodle’s Dreamnet and the Solana crew.
Together, these touchpoints gave devs and builders a deeper look at how social infra is shifting from theory to implementation — fast.
Product & Infra Learnings: Social Discovery Gets Real
Our core learning this quarter? Social kicks in fast.
We hit 76.4% Day 7 retention when Tapestry social features are integrated. That’s a massive validation of the role social can play in user engagement from Day 1.
Other key insight: Twitter handles emerged as the most consistent cross-app identifier, especially for embedded wallets. So we leaned in — Tapestry now supports Twitter handles as a foreign key across the board.
What We Shipped
Some of the key building blocks shipped in Q2:
✅ Solana Starter Kit
✅ New linking logic in our API
✅ Tops.fun integration
✅ Lightweight config options for onboarding flows
We’re also leaning into what we’ve found to be a killer retention formula:
Feeds + Copy Trade + Suggested Follow = retention lever
These core features are turning social from a “nice to have” into a core mechanic.
Solana Social Explorer (SSE) Ecosystem Growth
SSE continues to grow as a foundational tool in the Solana ecosystem.
Major Collabs:
SSE × Pudgy Penguins — adding social context for NFT communities.
SSE × Solana ID — enabling identity resolution and continuity across apps.
The impact so far:
15+ apps integrated across the Tapestry ecosystem
Making wallet addresses feel like real people
Social layers breathing life into otherwise data-heavy apps
Names like Pudgy Penguins, Tokie, tops, Lux, JESTR, SagaDAO, and more are helping define what a social layer for crypto feels like.
Zumi Games: Social Play, Onchain
This July, we launched Zumi Games, our first in-house experiment in crypto-native, emotionally sticky gameplay. At its core is Zumi, a digital pet you hatch, talk to, and care for. But it’s not just a pet, it’s a window into what onchain social play can feel like.
Each Zumi lives onchain, with mood, appearance, and interactions evolving based on how you connect with it. Players can see all Zumis on a public playground, connect with each other’s pets, and share updates across networks. It’s social, interoperable, and composable by default.
The app runs on Tapestry infra, using shared social identity (Twitter handles, wallet IDs) to make every Zumi part of the broader Solana social layer. Early players came for the cuteness, stayed for the community, and gave us strong signals on how playful, interoperable primitives can drive engagement with web2 natives.
