In our recent fireside chat for the Solana Social Accelerator, we caught up with Pedro Miranda, Solana’s Consumer Lead, to talk about what makes onchain communities thrive. From staying active on social media to collaborating with Solana-native platforms, he shared some useful insights for builders looking to grow their audience.
1. Ship Something Every Day—And Let People Know
One of the main takeaways was the idea of shipping something every day. This doesn’t have to mean big releases—it could be a small UI tweak, a preview of something in progress, or even a conversation with the community. The key is to stay visible, especially on platforms like Twitter, where users, investors, and developers go to see what’s happening.
2. Be Direct and Open About What You’re Building
Engaging directly with the community, rather than relying on intermediaries, tends to work well. Sharing updates publicly, responding to feedback, and even reaching out to potential investors in an open forum can help build momentum. DReader, for example, caught the attention of Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko just by posting consistently and being persistent.
3. Tap into Solana-Native Platforms
Teams that integrate with Solana-native platforms like Drip, Portals, and Torque often find it easier to connect with users. These platforms already have engaged communities, making it a natural way to grow without relying on expensive marketing.
4. Let the Community Spread the Word
Instead of focusing on paid promotions, some of the most successful projects make it easy for their users to share and promote. Pudgy Penguins, for example, provides branding kits so the community can create their own content. A similar approach could help other projects scale their visibility in an organic way.
5. Crypto Marketing = Frequency & Responsiveness
Crypto Twitter, and even LinkedIn, tend to reward frequent updates. It’s not just about pushing big announcements—responding to feedback, posting small changes, and showing steady progress all help keep the community engaged.
Overall
Building an engaged community takes time, but staying active and involved makes a big difference. Regular updates, thoughtful collaborations, and giving users ways to contribute can all help create a strong, lasting connection with your audience.
